Job summary

ADAPT Community Network, based in New York City, is seeking a licensed Physical Therapist to evaluate, diagnose and provide therapeutic intervention to students under the IFSP/IEP framework. You will collaborate with parents and an interdisciplinary team to develop plans and monitor progress across school and community settings.

The role emphasizes clinical leadership, adherence to regulations, and a commitment to helping students achieve functional goals in education and daily life.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Physical Therapy required.
• Current NY State license in Physical Therapy required.
• One year pediatric or school-based PT experience preferred.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English required.

Responsibilities

• Provide PT evaluation of students and annual progress notes.
• Develops a treatment plan and goals based on assessment.
• Maintain daily and monthly attendance records.
• Ensure services align with educational goals and regulatory requirements.
• Select educational, recreational and social activities to aid student adjustment.
• Teach adaptive skills for daily living and vocational tasks.
• Provide and participate in in-service education for staff.
• Serve on interdisciplinary team in meetings and case presentations.
• Integrate therapeutic techniques into programs and home settings.
• Assist with overall rehabilitation and documentation of progress.
• Refer students to other clinical services as needed.
• Fit adaptive devices like splints or braces.
• Supervise PT students and assistants as needed.
• Support with arrival/dismissal, mealtimes and classroom management.
