Job summary

Sumter School District seeks a Physical Therapy Assistant to support student IEP goals in a school setting. The PTA will provide services under a licensed PT, implement targeted therapies, and document progress for individual education plans.

Experience with pediatric or school-based therapy is preferred, and the role includes collaboration with educators and participation in district meetings and data collection for accountability.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree from an accredited physical therapy assistant program is required.
• Pediatric or school-based experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate to develop individual goals and objectives for students based on progress and IEP needs.
• Under the supervision of a physical therapist, implement appropriate physical therapy services to support IEP goals.
• Identify environmental needs/barriers and recommend accommodations/physical modifications under supervision.
• Independently conduct both individual and group physical therapy treatments as assigned.
• Monitor student responses and consult with the PT for modifications as needed.
• Assist in selecting techniques/media and adapt as directed by student performance and PT.
• Record billable treatment times and provide Medicaid documentation per district guidelines.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in staff development activities.
