Job summary

Salem Public Schools is seeking an Occupational Therapist or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant for an anticipated year in Salem, MA. This district-wide, in-person position supports students across multiple schools during the 2026-2027 year.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, apply school-based OT services, and ensure IEP goals are met while maintaining accurate documentation and compliance with state and federal regulations.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
• Certified by the National Board of Certification in Occupational Therapy.
• Licensure in Massachusetts as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant required.
• Prior experience delivering school-based services preferred.
• Valid Driver's License or ability to provide own transportation within the district.
• Experience with Medicaid reimbursement submission/services verification process.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small group occupational therapy in pull-out and inclusive settings at multiple job sites within the district.
• Assist the Occupational Therapist with informal assessment of fine-motor and development skills and develop recommendations.
• Evaluate, service and report on student progress.
• Follow and implement students' IEPs and treatment plans.
• Maintain a consistent service delivery schedule and provide staff consultation as needed.
• Attend IEP meetings, special education staff meetings and building events.
