Job summary

Bismarck Public Schools is looking for a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to support students in a school-based setting for the 2026-2027 year.

The role is full-time (36–40 hours/week), nine months per year, reporting to the assigned occupational therapists and the Director of Special Education. You will implement therapy services, collect data, adapt environments, and collaborate with teachers, families, and other staff to advance student goals.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
• NBCOT certification and North Dakota OT licensure.
• Experience with pediatric populations and school-based OT desirable.
• Knowledge of IEP processes and assistive technology.

Responsibilities

• Implement therapy services per IEP; including individual and group activities.
• Collect data on therapy goals and objectives.
• Modify school environments, tools and materials to improve student functioning.
• Participate in screening and assessment under supervision of licensed therapists.
• Provide documentation and maintain files and records.
• Instruct students, teachers, parents and others on techniques and equipment.
• Ensure treatment equipment and supplies are clean and in proper working order.
• Collaborate with therapists, teachers, aides and families to revise goals and plan services.
• Attend meetings/workshops to convey best practices for school OT delivery.
• Transport materials and equipment for therapy sessions.
• Troubleshoot and maintain assistive devices.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information.
