Job summary

Jobot is hiring an Orientation and Mobility Specialist in the Bronx, NY. The role focuses on direct instruction and consultation for students aged 3–21 in a school-based setting, with a Monday–Friday daytime schedule and an extended summer program.

The position requires COMS or NOMC certification and at least 1 year of guiding visually impaired individuals in safe, independent travel, with benefits including health and dental insurance, a 401(k), and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Current ACVREP Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) or NOMC.
• Experience guiding visually impaired individuals in safe, independent travel.
• Experience with school-aged or pediatric students with blindness or visual impairment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual Orientation and Mobility instruction to students who are blind or visually impaired.
• Develop IEP goals, reports, and progress documentation.
• Evaluate and monitor student progress.
• Teach safe, independent travel and environmental navigation skills.
• Modify O&M instruction, materials, and techniques based on each student’s age and abilities.
