Job summary

EdAdvance seeks a School Social Worker or School Counselor for Barkhamsted Elementary & Hartland Schools for the 2026-27 year. The role focuses on expanding access to school-based mental health services and working within a dynamic team.

Anticipated start ASAP; end date 2027-06-30. Full-time, 190‑day academic calendar with compensation commensurate with experience and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Valid CT Certification as a School Social Worker (071) or School Counselor (068).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate with diverse professional staff.
• Interpersonal skills for work with students, families and staff.
• Experience with crisis intervention in school settings.
• Experience with social-emotional curricula and high‑risk students.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group counseling to an assigned caseload of students.
• Assess mental health needs via clinical interviews, observations, and consultations.
• Provide data to Planning and Placement Team for student needs.
• Respond to crises and serve on Emergency Response Team.
• Communicate with families and outside providers to support student functioning.
• Maintain and analyze social/behavioral data and attendance records.
• Develop short- and long-term goals for students with/without IEPs/504s.
• Refer to community resources and assist in program evaluation.
• Regular attendance and collaboration with school staff.
