Job summary

Grand Rapids Public Schools seeks a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to work under the supervision of a Registered Occupational Therapist. The role includes supporting scholars with IEP goals, providing 1:1 or group assistance, and helping with instructional objectives in a Special Education setting.

The ideal candidate will have COTA certification and Michigan licensure, strong communication skills, and the ability to work as part of a diverse team in an on-site school

Qualifications

• Must have at least two years of higher education (60 credits) or an associate's degree, or a passing score on an MDE approved assessment.
• COTA certification by the American Occupational Therapy Association.
• Michigan COTA license required.

Responsibilities

• Provide Occupational Therapy 1:1 or classroom support under supervision of an OTR.
• Develop and maintain instructional objectives and progress records.
• Assist in writing clinic reports and maintain caseload documentation.
• Support in specialized classrooms (e.g., autism spectrum, moderate cognitive impairment).
• Attend team meetings and follow district policies.
