Job summary

Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District seeks a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to provide occupational therapy services to students with disabilities during the school year. The role involves preparing equipment, assisting with data collection, and supporting a multi-disciplinary team to implement educationally relevant treatment plans.

The COTA will work under the supervision of the Director of Special Education or designee, ensuring compliance with NBCOT and California OT board

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and graduation from an accredited Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant program are required.
• NBCOT certification is required.
• California Board of Occupational Therapy license as a COTA is required.
• Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
• A valid California Class C driver's license and acceptable MVR may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide occupational therapy treatment to enhance fine motor, sensory motor, gross and fine motor delays for identified students.
• Maintain treatment and other assigned work areas in a safe and orderly manner.
• Assist with student observations, assessments, evaluations and related interviews.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary team in providing occupational therapy services.
• Assist in developing therapeutic treatments and goals educationally relevant to students’ programs.
• Assist with data collection for use in multidisciplinary meetings.
• Monitor and adjust treatment programs in response to student progress.
• Prepare for daily services and operate adaptive equipment and tools.
• Monitor inventory levels of supplies and equipment.
