Job summary

Ascend Schools in Brooklyn seeks a School Clinician to join the Student Support Services team, addressing social, emotional, and mental health needs to ensure academic and personal success. You will provide individual, group, and classroom counseling, plus crisis interventions, serving as a critical link among students, families, and school leadership.

Responsibilities include developing FBAs/BIPs, coordinating services with external providers, and participating in MTSS/IEP processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in social work, school counseling, psychology, or mental health counseling.
• Active New York State licensure (LCSW/LMSW/LMHC/School Psychologist/School Counselor).
• Strong commitment to urban education and closing the achievement gap.
• Ability to build relationships with students, families, and community partners.
• Expertise in crisis intervention, counseling, and behavioral support planning.

Responsibilities

• Provide mandated and at-risk counseling sessions (individual, group, push-in, check-in).
• Conduct safety assessments and crisis interventions for at-risk students.
• Develop and implement FBAs, BIPs, and Crisis Support Plans with school leadership and families.
• Coordinate in-school and community services; maintain referral resources.
