Job summary

KIPP DC is seeking a School-Based BCBA for The Learning Center to support ABA-based interventions across PreK3–12, including general and specialized education settings. This role is fully on-site and reports to the Wheeler Campus principal, with duties spanning behavior analysis, assessment, BIPs, and collaboration with teachers, families, and school teams.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Behavior Analysis, Applied Behavior Analysis, Education/Special Education, Psychology, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Consult on behavior plans for general education students.
• Develop and manage Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) for students receiving special education services.
• Support BIP implementation in classrooms through collaboration and modeling with teachers and support staff.
• Conduct fidelity observations to ensure accurate implementation of strategies.
• Collect data related to BIP goals and update plans to align with IEP schedules.
• Attend review meetings with parents and school staff and coordinate with school teams on IEP goals and supports.
• Provide guidance to teachers on evidence-based behavior interventions and data collection methods.

Job Summary The Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) role is an integral part of the Student Support team, ensuring the principles of applied behavioral analysis (ABA) methodology is implemented with fidelity to significantly improve students’ social and behavioral functioning. BCBA salaries are exempt and start at $82,620 and increase with years of experience. Please see the salary scale here. BCBAs can earn up to $4,000 in renewal add-ons to their base salary each year they return to KIPP DC. This is a Full-time, fully on-site role with an immediate start date.

About the Role

KIPP DC is looking for a dynamic, committed and flexible school-based behavior analyst to perform behavioral analysis and intervention support for general education students and students receiving specialized education services in grades PreK3 through 12. The KIPP DC school based behavior analyst will work closely with school mental health practitioners, school based student support teams, school leaders, and teachers to execute a tiered approach to behavior support at the school level. This position is an exempt position, and reports to the Principal of The Learning Center at KIPP DC's Wheeler Campus.

Location and Type of Work

As a headquarters team that is focused on being responsive to our schools and meeting the needs of our students and families, we approach our work in a way that reflects these priorities. Schools operate in person and our students and families rely on us for in-person support which requires this position to be fully on-site. This role is currently required to be on-site or in school during regular work hours.

Responsibilities

Behavior Analysis- 30%

• Consult on behavior plans for general education students.
• Develop and manage Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) for students receiving special education services.
• Support BIP implementation in classrooms through collaboration, information dissemination, and modeling with teachers and support staff.
• Conduct fidelity observations to ensure accurate implementation of strategies.
• Collect data related to BIP goals.
• Review and update behavior intervention plans in line with IEP compliance schedules.
• Attend review meetings with parents and school staff.
• Support students and teachers in the self-contained Autism classrooms through collaboration, modeling, and consultation.

Assessments and Report Writing- 30%

• Complete comprehensive functional behavioral assessments for general education and students receiving special education services.
• Conduct VBMAPP assessments for students in self-contained programming, as appropriate, and consult on instructional instructional goals and methods.

Collaborative Teaming - 20%

• Demonstrates positive, collaborative problem-solving orientation with students, parents and guardians, educators, administrators, community members, and colleagues.
• Serves in a consultative role with school teams to offer prevention and intervention strategies for students in the behavior RTI process; and provides consultation on an on-going basis to teachers, parents, and other school personnel to resolve students’ learning and behavioral problems.
• Train school staff in creating and executing evidence-based behavior interventions for students, use of data collection tools, skill acquisition and behavior reduction techniques, and how to monitor fidelity.
• Participates in multi-disciplinary team meetings at schools to provide guidance on IEP goals and supports and student LRE placement.
• Coordinate with the KIPP DC Student Support Team on student cases.

Requirements & Preferences

Required Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Behavior Analysis, Applied Behavior Analysis, Education/Special Education, Psychology or a related field.
• Certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), in good standing with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.
• Extensive skills in behavioral assessment and behavior support plan development.
• Extensive knowledge of data analysis.
• Experience and commitment to working students with limited access to quality educational opportunities.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in an urban public school system.
• At least two years of experience as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.
