Job summary

Children’s Institute, Inc. (CII) seeks a qualified professional to deliver school-based early childhood mental health consultation for 0-5 populations in Head Start programs.

You will collaborate with teachers, caregivers, and home visitors to support social-emotional development and address behavioral health needs. The role requires a Master’s degree in a related field, licensure or registration (LCSW or MFT), and the ability to travel extensively.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a classroom behaviorist specializing in work with young children 0-5 and their families.
  • Master’s degree in Behavior Science, Psychology or related field and advanced knowledge of child development and Behavior.
  • Possesses a valid driver's license and state-required auto insurance.
  • Travel extensively (> 50% of the time).
  • Spanish / English bilingual preferred.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with assessment of young children’s social and emotional functioning.
  • Experience with group dynamics and intervention with children.
  • Ability to host reflective supervisions with individuals and groups.
  • Familiarity with EHS performance standards and CDE regulations.
  • Maintains patient privacy and protects PHI.
  • Participates in performance quality improvement activities.
  • Sensitivity to cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the service population.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Punctual and dependable attendance.
  • Free from alcohol and drug abuse.
  • Understands CII’s philosophy and mission.

Responsibilities

  • Provides school-based mental health consultation to children 0-5 in CII’s Early Head Start and Head Start programs.
  • Collaborates with caregivers, teachers, family services, and home visitors to address mental health concerns.
  • May include home-based services through Early Head Start option.
  • Observes settings and provides programmatic consultation to promote social-emotional development.
  • Maintains records, case notes, and reports; participates in clinical supervision.
