Job summary

Alabaster City Schools is seeking a Behavior Intervention Specialist (BCBA) to help school personnel assess and implement programs for students' behaviors. This role requires collaborating with educational staff, training, and managing behavioral interventions.

The ideal candidate will have a valid Alabama Teacher’s Certificate, certification in Applied Behavior Analysis, and a minimum of three years’ experience working with students who have various behavioral needs.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years experience with students with autism, communication disorders, developmental delays, and/or behavioral concerns.
• Experience in writing and implementing effective behavior plans.
• Trained in prevention and management of aggressive behavior.

Responsibilities

• Participates in the assessment of students’ social, behavioral, emotional, and academic problems.
• Provides staff training and support in behavior management strategies.
• Models and coaches staff in behavior management strategies.
• Analyzes behavioral data to collaboratively write Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP).
• Maintains frequent communication with staff.

Skills

Team leadership experience

Knowledge of effective strategies for academic, communication, and behavior intervention

Education

Valid Alabama Teacher’s Certificate with endorsement in special education

Certification in Applied Behavior Analysis and/or BCBA
