Job summary

The Manheim Township School District is seeking an Attendance/Truancy/Residency Officer to promote regular school attendance and address residency concerns within the district.

The officer will investigate unexcused absences, assist families in removing barriers to attendance, represent the district in court when required, conduct Wellness home visits, and coordinate with Children and Youth Services and private schools in accordance with School Code.

Qualifications

• Requires valid Home School and Visitor Certification or law enforcement background.
• Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Human Services, or related field with two years attendance/truancy experience.

Responsibilities

• Investigate unexcused and/or excessive absences and assist families in removing barriers to attendance.
• Address residency concerns and represent the district in court when required.
• Make referrals to Children and Youth Services when appropriate.
• Conduct Wellness home visits as needed in accordance with School Board Policy.
• Collaborate with non-public/private schools within the district zone on attendance procedures and Pennsylvania School Code.
• Conduct and complete annual review and verification of 1302 Guardianship Affidavit and Living with Legal (shared housing).
• Investigate residency concerns to ensure only resident students attend the District as per policy.
