Job summary

The Kankakee Area YMCA is seeking a part-time School Age Program Aide to supervise school-age children in before/after school and related programs. You will implement curriculum, ensure safety, and foster positive youth development in a welcoming, inclusive environment.

You will work with families, school staff, and YMCA leadership, assisting with daily activities, attendance, and program readiness while upholding YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.

Qualifications

• Requires strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with children, families, school staff, and coworkers.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team in a fast-paced program environment.
• Previous experience working with children in childcare, school-age, or youth development settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct supervision and ensure safety and active engagement of all participants.
• Facilitate weekly curriculum and enrichment activities aligned with program goals and YMCA values.
• Maintain attendance records, participant accountability, and check-in/out procedures.
• Follow safety policies, emergency procedures, and incident reporting requirements.
• Assist with setup/cleanup, snack service, and preparation of activity spaces.
• Communicate participant needs, incidents, and safety concerns to leadership in a timely manner.
