Job summary

Channel Islands YMCA in Montecito is seeking an experienced School Age Childcare Teacher for the Montecito Family YMCA location. This part-time role supports planning, supervising, and implementing California state licensed childcare programs for school-age children.

You will supervise up to 14 children independently, coordinate with an assistant, maintain safety, and promote healthy eating and activity in line with HEPA guidelines.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess 12 units in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field.
• 6 months of experience in a childcare setting.
• Complete required certifications within 60 days of hire.
• Complete all required Branch and Position specific trainings as required within two weeks of hire.
• Ability to obtain Criminal Record Clearance.
• Health Screening Report and negative TB test required prior to first day of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, supervising, and implementing childcare programs in accordance with guidelines from State of California Community Care Licensing.
• Supervises up to 14 children independently under the guidelines from State of California Community Care Licensing.
• Supervises an Assistant or Associate Teacher with up to 28 children under the guidelines from State of California Community Care Licensing.
• Provides quality care and supervision to children (visual, proactive, interactive).
• Provide a safe environment for all children to thrive.
• Guide behaviors using positive methods, keeping in mind each child’s individual needs.
