Job summary

Channel Islands YMCA is hiring a School Age Childcare Teacher to assist in planning, supervising, and implementing a California-compliant childcare program. You will supervise groups of children with appropriate licensing oversight and support a nurturing, inclusive environment for families.

The role emphasizes safety, HEPA standards, teamwork, and ongoing trainings. A high school diploma and 12 ECE units are required, with 6 months of childcare experience and ability to obtain necessary

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 12 units in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field.
• 6 months of experience in a childcare setting.
• Complete all required certifications within 60 days of hire.
• Health Screening and negative TB test prior to first day of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, supervising, and implementing childcare programs in accordance with State guidelines.
• Supervise up to 14 children independently under California Community Care Licensing guidelines.
• Supervise an Assistant or Associate Teacher with up to 28 children under licensing guidelines.
• Provide a safe, nurturing environment and supervise children.
• Guide behaviors using positive methods considering each child's needs.
• Carry out activities and lesson plans; ensure HEPA standards.
• Set up and clean the program area; assist with HEPA compliance.
• Provide exceptional customer service and connect with children and families.
• Complete required trainings and participate in in-service sessions.
• Create an inclusive environment; work collaboratively with staff.
• Report concerns; maintain certifications and pursue growth opportunities.
• Support annual campaigns and educate members; understand mandated reporting policies.
