Job summary

Healthy Kids Programs is hiring School-Age Childcare Staff for our Before and After School Program at Frelinghuysen Elementary School in Newton, NJ for the 2025–2026 school year. This part-time, non-exempt position follows the school calendar and pays $16.00 per hour.

Work can be morning, afternoon, or both, with programs from 7:30–8:30 am and 3:15–6:15 pm. You will help supervise children, lead activities, and support a safe, engaging environment while meeting state requirements and program

• Background checks required by state regulation.
• Must meet physical demands (bend, lift up to 50 pounds).
• Positive, professional demeanor with strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate hands-on activities following the Healthy Kids Curriculum (fitness, STEAM, academics, art, homework).
• Provide a safe, healthy, and engaging environment and serve as a positive role model.
• Observe state guidelines, program policies, and host school rules.
• Some roles may include attendance records, registration, and staffing duties.

Position Responsibilities

• Facilitating hands‑on activities following the Healthy Kids Curriculum which includes fitness, STEAM, academic, art, and other group activities as well as homework completion.
• Providing a safe, healthy, and fun environment and acting as a positive role model for children in the program.
• Observing state guidelines, Healthy Kids Extended Day Program policies, and host school policies.
• Certain positions may also perform management functions such as accurate attendance records, registration, and staffing.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma and/or 1 year of childcare experience preferred but not required

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Candidates must successfully pass all required state background checks.
• Requires the ability to meet physical demands, including bending, stretching, lifting, and carrying up to 50 pounds, and actively engaging with energetic children.
• The ideal candidate demonstrates a positive, professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills when working with children, families, and colleagues, along with a consistent record of reliability and punctuality.
