Job summary

Dearborn Public Schools is seeking a Childcare Site Manager for the School-Age Childcare Program to lead multiple locations in Dearborn. The role reports to the Early Childhood Programs Supervisor and requires coordination with site leads to ensure a high-quality learning environment.

Responsibilities include supervising staff, ensuring a safe, engaging classroom, maintaining attendance records, and communicating with families via email and ClassDojo.

Qualifications

• 1. A minimum of 6 months of experience in a child care setting.
• 2. A valid Michigan youth development associate certificate or credential, or a CDA credential.
• 3. 12 semester hours or 18 CEUs or 180 clock hours of training in school-age care, youth development, early childhood education, or child development.
• 4. An associate degree or higher in a child-related field, or an associate degree with 12 semester hours in a child-related field.
• 5. At least 480 hours of experience in a licensed child care center or school-age program.
• 6. Current CPR/First Aid infant child certification.
• 7. Must be at least 21 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Arrive 15 minutes prior to the official starting time of the program.
• Plan, supervise and implement the program in accordance with the school policies and handbook and licensing regulations.
• Supervise and observe staff members at the site.
• Ensure the classroom environment is orderly and well-decorated; provide written feedback to staff as directed.
• Meet with the Early Childhood Programs Supervisor to discuss plans and issues.
• Assist with planning and creating a safe learning environment; set up centers and materials.
• Resolve problems with parents, children and staff with a constructive approach; involve supervisor as needed.
• Check and record attendance; sign-in/out sheets and ensure children's files are complete.
• Assist with planning indoors/outdoors activities ensuring developmental appropriateness.
• Develop effective communication with parents via email and ClassDojo.
• Monitor lunchroom, classroom, and playground safety; report hazards weekly.
• Report accidents or injuries to the building principal and supervisor; prepare incident reports when needed.
• Participate in in-service training programs as assigned.
• Participate in activities as requested by the principal or supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
• Substitute at another site if needed.
