Job summary

Healthy Kids Programs is hiring a School-Age Childcare Assistant for our Before and After School Programs at Horace W. Porter School in Columbia, CT for the 2026–2027 school year.

This part-time, non-exempt role follows the school calendar with morning 7:00–8:00 am and afternoon 3:15–6:00 pm shifts; opportunities may exist for both sessions. Qualifications include 18+, a HS diploma or equivalent, and 1 year of experience with kids preferred; candidates must be reliable, patient, and able to lift

Qualifications

• 18 years or older and holds a High School Diploma or equivalent
• 1 year of experience working with kids preferred
• Required health clearance (TB screening) per state regulations
• Positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and reliability
• Physically able to bend, stretch, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds while engaging with children

Responsibilities

• Facilitate hands-on activities following the Healthy Kids Curriculum (fitness, STEAM, academic, art, etc.) and homework completion
• Provide a safe, healthy, and fun environment and act as a positive role model
• Observe state guidelines and program policies
• Support program operations including attendance, registration, and staffing tasks

Position Responsibilities

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• 18 years or older and hold a High School Diploma or equivalent required
• 1 year of experience working with kids under 13 preferred
• Required health clearance, including TB screening, in accordance with state regulations.
• Must demonstrate a positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and reliability.
• Physically able to bend, stretch, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds while actively engaging with children throughout the day.
