Job summary

Healthy Kids Programs is hiring a School-Age Childcare Assistant for our Before and After School Program at Cape May City Elementary School in Cape May, NJ for the 2026–2027 school year. This part-time, non-exempt role follows the school calendar with morning and/or afternoon schedules.

Responsibilities include facilitating activities from the Healthy Kids Curriculum, providing a safe and engaging environment, and assisting with attendance and staffing as needed.

Qualifications

• Must successfully pass all required state background checks.
• Ability to meet physical demands, including bending, stretching, lifting up to 50 pounds, and actively engaging with energetic children.
• Positive, professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills when working with children, families, and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate hands-on activities following the Healthy Kids Curriculum (fitness, STEAM, academic, art, and homework).
• Provide a safe, healthy, and fun environment and act as a positive role model.
• Observe state guidelines and program policies.
• Assist with attendance records, registration, and staffing responsibilities.

PAY: $16.00 per hour

Schedule: Follows the school calendar
Morning Program: 7:00 - 8:45 am
Afternoon Program: 2:30 - 5:45 pm

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma and/or 1 year of childcare experience preferred but not required

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Candidates must successfully pass all required state background checks.
• Requires the ability to meet physical demands, including bending, stretching, lifting, and carrying up to 50 pounds, and actively engaging with energetic children.
• The ideal candidate demonstrates a positive, professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills when working with children, families, and colleagues, along with a consistent record of reliability and punctuality.
