Job summary

Healthy Kids Programs is hiring a School-Age Childcare Assistant for our Before and After School Programs at Frelinghuysen Elementary School in Newton, NJ, for the 2026–2027 school year.

This part-time, non-exempt role pays $16.00 per hour with morning (7:30–8:30 am) and afternoon (3:15–6:15 pm) shifts; you may work mornings, afternoons, or both, and the program provides employer-paid childcare to help with family scheduling.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or 1 year childcare experience preferred but not required.
• Must pass state background checks.
• Ability to meet physical demands, including bending, stretching, lifting up to 50 pounds, and actively engaging with energetic children.

Responsibilities

• Facilitating hands-on activities following the Healthy Kids Curriculum, including fitness, STEAM, academic, art, and other group activities as well as homework completion.
• Providing a safe, healthy, and fun environment and acting as a positive role model for children in the program.
• Observing state guidelines, Healthy Kids Extended Day Program policies, and host school policies.
• Certain positions may also perform management functions such as accurate attendance records, registration, and staffing.
