Job summary

York Jewish Community Center is seeking an Assistant Group Supervisor to help develop, implement and evaluate daily classroom plans and activities, coordinate daily routines, and supervise Aides when the Group Supervisor is absent. You will help oversee the well-being of children and the upkeep of the classroom and materials.

Requirements include a high school diploma with 30 credits in Early Childhood Education or related fields (or alternatives listed), the ability to meet Keystone STARS

Qualifications

• Understand/possess an openness to Jewish religion and traditions.
• Attend all meetings and events that support the department's main objectives and responsibilities.
• Positively promote the JCC's mission, membership, programs, events, and charitable purpose.
• Be familiar with the mission, vision statements, and Core Values of the JCC.

• Adhere to the JCC Early Childhood Program Handbook requirements including DHS regulations, family communication, and safety procedures.
• Attend regular meetings for the School Age Program and the JCC.

Overview: The principle duties of the Assistant Group Supervisor include: collaborating with the Group Supervisor to develop, implement, and evaluate daily classroom plans and activities, coordinating daily activities and supervising Aides in the absence of the Group Supervisor, overseeing the physical well being of the children, maintenance of the classroom, classroom materials and equipment, and contributing to the overall operation of the School Age Child Care Program.

General Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the Group Supervisor to provide a nurturing environment in which all children feel welcomed and secure.
• Meet Keystone STARS* standards.
• Adhere to the standards outlined in the JCC Early Childhood Program Handbook for: Following DHS regulations, Communicating with families, Care of facility and equipment, Record keeping, Curriculum, Health and safety procedures, Teamwork, including regular attendance of staff meetings
• Attend regular meetings for the School Age Program and the JCC.
• Other duties as needed or assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent, plus 15 credits in the above fields and one year experience working with children; or
• High school diploma or equivalent, and two years' experience working with young children.
