Mālamalama Waldorf School is seeking an experienced, organized, and compassionate School Administrator to provide leadership for the administrative, operational, and community life of the school. Working closely with the Board of Directors, Faculty Chair, Executive Team, and broader school community, this position plays a central role in supporting the school’s mission, organizational health, and long-term sustainability.
Mālamalama Waldorf School was founded in 1978 and is located on a beautiful 20-acre rainforest campus in Keaʻau on Hawaiʻi Island. MWS is a well-respected independent Waldorf school serving preschool through Grade 8 and is accredited by AWSNA, WASC, and HAIS. The School Administrator serves as the primary administrative leader of the school and oversees daily operations, administrative systems, staff supervision, financial oversight, enrollment support, community relations, compliance, facilities coordination, and strategic planning. The position works closely with the Board of Directors, Faculty Chair, Executive Team, Parent Hui, and school community to support collaborative governance and ensure the healthy functioning of the school. Responsibilities include supervision of non-faculty staff, oversight of school operations and regulatory compliance, support of budget development and financial planning, enrollment and outreach leadership, fundraising support, parent and community relations, facilities oversight, and participation in AWSNA accreditation and institutional development processes.
Candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, education administration, organizational leadership, or a related field, or equivalent experience. A minimum of three years of administrative leadership experience and two years of supervisory experience is required. Successful candidates will have experience managing budgets, supervising staff, working with boards or governing bodies, and coordinating complex organizational operations. Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office is required. Familiarity with Waldorf education, enrollment management, fundraising, nonprofit administration, AWSNA accreditation, and Hawaiʻi school regulations is preferred. United States work authorization and strong computer and organizational skills are required.
This is a full‑time salaried exempt position with a salary range of $53,000–$73,000 per year, commensurate with experience. Benefits include individual medical insurance and tuition remission.
