Job summary

Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro, MA, is seeking an on-site Scheduling Clerk to coordinate imaging examinations. The role interfaces with imaging technologists, providers, and patients to ensure timely appointments and accurate scheduling in the EMR.

The candidate will handle multi-tasking, confirm preauthorizations, and inform patients of dates and prep requirements. High school diploma required, 2+ years hospital experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of medical experience, preferably in a hospital-based Imaging department.
• Excellent command of verbal and written English.
• Excellent communication, customer service and organization skills with healthcare teams and patients.
• Detail oriented with ability to multi-task and prioritize.
• Ability to problem solve and address scheduling issues.
• Proficiency in technology including EMR, scanner, phone, fax and copy machines.

Responsibilities

• Monitors fax queue and schedules examinations with providers’ offices and patients.
• Coordinates with Imaging technologists for appropriate scheduling of exams.
• Manages multiple exam requests to ensure timely exams.
• Multi-tasks and follows up on work in progress and related tasks.
• Uses EMR and scheduling pool to book patients for imaging/EEG studies.
• Notifies referring providers of issues and resolves scheduling questions.

Required Skills / Qualifications / Training / Experience

• Detail oriented with the ability to work independently and prioritize as needed
• Ability to problem solve and address scheduling related issues
• Proficiency in technology, including computer, scanner, phone, fax and copy machines

Preferred Skills / Qualifications / Training / Experience

• Familiarity with medical terminology, preferably Imaging related
• Familiarity with Meditech
• Prior experience with Cerner a plus

Essential Job Functions

• Monitors fax work queue for incoming requests from non-Sturdy providers and schedules examinations with provider's office/patients.
• Works with Imaging technologists to ensure appropriate scheduling of exams/procedures.
• Coordinates multiple exam requests to ensure exams are performed in a timely fashion.
• Displays ability to multi-task and follow-up on work in progress.
• Responsible for general and secondary tasks as needed or assigned.
• Utilizing the EMR and working from a scheduling request pool, processes requests to book patients for their imaging/EEG studies.
• Notifies referring provider of any issues/questions that may arise in the booking process and works to resolve any issues.
• Confirms that appropriate insurance preauthorization have been obtained and documents detailed information.
• Contacts patients via telephone to inform them of their scheduled appointment date(s) and time(s).
• Relays any appropriate exam requirements and/or preps.
• Notifies referring provider's office via pool of patient's appointment information.
• Answers incoming calls and assists patients and referring provider offices in booking examinations.

Salary Range

$19.85-$30.05

The pay range displayed on each job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set, and education. This is not inclusive of the value Sturdy Health’s benefits package (if applicable), which includes among other benefits, healthcare/dental/vision and retirement. For annual salaries this is based on full-time employment.
