Job summary

Norton Healthcare in Louisville, KY seeks a Surgery Scheduler to coordinate surgical procedures across multiple resources, including endoscopy, pain management and pre-admission testing.

No prior experience is required; on-the-job training is provided. You will collect basic demographic and insurance information, review orders, and ensure Medical Necessity and block-time utilization are properly handled.

Qualifications

• One year scheduling tests/procedures or patient registration in a healthcare setting.
• High School Diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Schedule surgical procedures and related services (endoscopy, pain management, infusion center, pre-admission testing).
• Instruct doctors' offices and patients on pre-procedures and collect basic demographic and insurance information.
• Review physician orders for completeness and accuracy; process orders through FACSys and Paperless Order Process.
• Confirm Medical Necessity criteria on Medicare accounts.
• Ensure physician block time is utilized appropriately.

The Surgery Scheduler schedules surgical procedures, including complex procedures, involving multiple resources. Surgery Schedulers also schedule procedures for endoscopy, pain, infusion center and pre‑admission testing. The individual instructs doctor's office and/or patients regarding pre‑procedures, clinical preparations as required, and obtains basic demographic and insurance information while maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality at all times. The scheduler is also responsible for reviewing physician orders and confirmation for completeness and accuracy. The scheduler accurately processes orders through FACSys electronic software and processes the order through the Paperless Order Process to file orders accurately. Schedulers must also confirm Medical Necessity criteria on Medicare accounts via Norton Healthcare Medical Necessity software program. Schedulers are responsible to confirm Physician's block time is appropriately utilized.
