Job summary

Majestic Care is seeking a Scheduler (QMA / CNA) to generate and manage master nursing schedules. The role ensures adequate shift coverage and adapts to budgetary and census changes while coordinating with Nursing leadership and HR.

The position requires an active QMA or CNA license and prior scheduling experience in a long-term care environment. A flexible schedule including weekends and holidays is expected.

Qualifications

  • Scheduling experience in long-term care preferred.
  • Active QMA and/or CNA license in good standing required.

Responsibilities

  • Generates, manages and updates master schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Recommends scheduling improvements for staffing efficiency.
  • Communicates staffing needs to Executive Director, Director of Nursing and HR.
  • Liaises with Nursing leadership on leave or coverage gaps.
  • Handles inquiries from Care Team Members regarding scheduling and provides solutions.
  • Verifies PTO availability with HR before approval.
  • Maintains attendance records and notes excessive absences/tardies.
  • Coordinates floor orientation schedules for new hires in nursing.
  • Checks time clock against master schedules and makes corrections as needed.
  • Signs time correction forms for schedule adjustments.
  • Utilizes scheduling software to prepare and update the master schedule.
  • Maintains flexibility to work weekends, holidays and on-call shifts.
  • May occasionally work on the floor if licensed as QMA/CNA.

Scheduler (QMA / CNA)

The Nurse Scheduler generates, manages and updates master schedules while making adjustments as needed according to budgetary constraints, census fluctuations, call-ins, and pre-planned leaves of absence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fulfilling staffing vacancies in advance to ensure adequate coverage for all shifts.
  • Recommends new approaches and effective scheduling practices for continual improvements and efficiency in staffing.
  • Advises and communicates with Executive Director and Director of Nursing of staffing, scheduling needs and/or shortages identified during assessment of nursing schedules.
  • Serves as a liaison between the Director of Nursing Services, Executive Director and Human Resources when it has been identified there is a potential leave or assistance situation with a Care Team Member.
  • Handles various inquiries from Care Team Members regarding scheduling and provides solutions where needed.
  • Validates PTO availability with Human Resources prior to approval.
  • Keeps meticulous attendance records and assists in communicating if staff members accrue excessive absences and/or tardies.
  • Communicates with Unit Managers and the Director of Nursing Services regarding floor orientation schedules for newly hired Care Team Members in the nursing department.
  • Checks time clock punch records daily against master schedules and notes the appropriate changes.
  • Signs time correction forms for events such as missing meal periods or forgetting to clock in/out.
  • Utilizes computer software to prepare, change and update the master schedule.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekend and holiday rotations and the on-call schedule rotation.
  • This position may occasionally require working the floor if a license is held for positions such as a QMA or CNA.
Qualifications
  • Previous scheduling experience in a long-term care setting preferred.
  • Active QMA and/or CNA license in good standing required.
