Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Scheduler to maintain close ties with the Project Team to ensure scheduling standards are met. You will interface with estimating, design, and construction to manage quantity, cost, and schedule from original estimate through project completion.

This hands-on role emphasizes CPM scenarios, data-driven planning, and risk mitigation, while collaborating with owners and internal teams to keep projects on track and within scope.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
  • 3-8 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Understanding of Earned Value Management System.
  • Self-sufficient in document control and office software (Bluebeam, Procore, Microsoft Office).
  • Self-sufficient in scheduling software including Primavera P6 or MSP.
  • Willingness to relocate to project locations; travel and relocation required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares CPM scenarios for management consideration and integrates final approach into a complete CPM schedule.
  • Accumulates historical and forecast data for realistic planning and forecasting.
  • Develops understanding of project scopes and contracts.
  • Communicates with the Owner to ensure satisfaction or implement corrective action as needed.
  • Provides scheduling analysis for delays and impacts to identify and mitigate project risk.
  • Ensures teams are aware of risks to schedule and delay and respond appropriately.
  • Oversees and notifies management of concerns regarding contract notice, delay, and schedule documentation.
  • Participates in pursuits and prepares fee proposals, RFP responses, and presentations.
  • Documents schedule basis with narrative on critical assumptions for internal use, GMPs, and Owner docs.
  • Conducts monthly schedule project audits.
  • Develops or assists in training PMs and Superintendents on scheduling software usage in the field.
  • Supports a positive and inclusive work environment.

Job description

Summary

The Scheduler will maintain close working relationships with the Project Team to ensure that they meet or exceed Project Controls standards.This hands-on role will give you the opportunity to directly interface with the estimating, design, and construction teams to ensure the accurate life cycle of quantity, cost, and schedule management from original estimate through project completion.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepares Critical Path Method (CPM) scenarios for management consideration and incorporates final approach into a complete CPM schedule
  • Accumulate and access historical and forecast data for use in maintaining realistic future planning and forecasting.
  • Develop an understanding of project scopes and contracts.
  • Communicates with Owner to assure customer satisfaction or implements corrective action when needed
  • Provide scheduling analysis for delays and impacts to identify and mitigate project risk.
  • Ensures that project teams are aware of and properly responds to risks relative to schedule and delay
  • Provides oversight and notifications to management of any concerns regarding contract notice, delay, and proper documentation of project schedules
