Job summary

Kiewit Power Constructors District is seeking a Scheduler who will work closely with project teams to develop and update schedules for engineering and construction milestones. You will build resource loaded schedules, track progress, and report schedule health to leadership.

Rotations between field and office may occur; willing to travel and relocate as needed to support projects across the U.S. and ensure on-time delivery of critical EPC work.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering.
  • Knowledge of project controls software (inEight Suite, Primavera P6) or willingness to learn.
  • Ability to travel or relocate as needed.
  • Ability to access construction sites in various climates and environments.
  • Strong work ethic, proactive and ethical.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and update schedules from conceptual planning through engineering and construction.
  • Create resource-loaded schedules with milestones, major approvals, long-lead items and deliverables.
  • Develop schedule logic, durations, and manpower/resource estimates.
  • Assess design changes and communicate schedule updates to management and clients.
  • Apply EPC terminology to maintain critical path logic; use historical data for planning and forecasting.
  • Provide guidance and schedule health reports; participate in meetings with project teams.

Position Overview

As a Scheduler, you will get the opportunity to work closely with construction and engineering operations as you develop engineering and construction schedules. You will be responsible for building and updating schedules as various milestones and project deliverables are completed or added to the scope of work, while providing updates to key project team members on the progress of projects.

District Overview

Kiewit Power Constructors (KPC) provides direct-hire construction services for Power Generation utilizing a union craft force. Kiewit Power Constructors builds major EPC power plant and solar projects throughout North America. We offer integrated engineering, procurement, construction and startup service needs, specializing in gas and coal-fired power generation, coal retrofit and renewable energy.

Location

Although based in Kansas City, Kiewit Power Constructors builds projects across the U.S. –from bustling urban centers to remote landscapes. As a Field Engineer, your assignments may take you to some of the most impactful energy projects in the nation. Job locations are project based and finalized closer to your start date. We seek professionals who thrive on travel, embrace new environments, and are excited about working where the action is. Rotations between the field and office work may occur depending on the project’s scope and stage. Candidate must be open to traveling and relocating as business requires.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, designers, procurement staff, construction managers, contractors and other project services staff to provide detailed planning and scheduling of projects from conceptual planning through engineering and construction
  • Develop resource loaded schedules, including lists of activities, major milestones, critical approvals, long lead procurement items and other critical project deliverables to be scheduled and tracked for the projects
  • Develop schedule logic and constraints, realistic activity durations and available manpower and resources
  • Assess the impact of design changes and schedule slippages and inform company management and clients of all schedule updates
  • Apply engineering, procurement, and construction terminology and concepts to develop and maintain critic path logic networks; accumulate and access historical data for use in maintaining realistic future planning and forecasting
  • Provide guidance, direction, and specialized assistance for the resolution of difficult project control problems. Interface with clients, attend regular meetings and give schedule health reports.
Qualifications
  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • Knowledge of, or a willingness to learn about, various project controls software, such as inEight Suite, Primavera P6, etc.
  • Ability to travel and/or relocate as needed
  • Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in a wide-ranging climates and environments
  • Highly motivated, with a passion for excellence and taking initiative
  • Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity
  • Passion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurt
