Job summary

Kiewit in Lenexa, Kansas seeks an Engineering Scheduler to support multiple markets in our Power division. You will develop resource-loaded schedules, determine activity durations, and monitor critical milestones from concept through construction, collaborating with project managers, engineers, designers, procurement, and field teams.

This hybrid role offers relocation assistance and the chance to contribute to EPC projects across North America while upholding Kiewit's standards for safety,

Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • At least 2 years of scheduling experience preferably in engineering or construction.
  • Proficiency with computers and software including Microsoft Office products and Primavera P6.
  • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn about, various project controls software.
  • Ability to travel periodically. Relocation to jobsites is not required.
  • Ability to translate complex engineering processes into project schedules.
  • Highly motivated with a passion for excellence and initiative.
  • Strong work ethic and integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Work with project managers, engineers, designers, procurement staff, and construction managers to plan and schedule projects from conception through construction.
  • Develop resource-loaded schedules with milestones, approvals, and procurement items.
  • Create schedule logic, durations, and resource estimates.
  • Assess design changes and schedule slippages and report updates to management and clients.
  • Apply EPC terminology to maintain critical path logic and historical data for forecasting.
  • Provide guidance and support to resolve project control problems.
  • Analyze and forecast status against baselines and train other schedulers.
  • Interface with clients and present schedule health reports.

District Overview

Kiewit Engineering Group, Inc is a full-service consulting and engineering firm serving the infrastructure and engineering markets. Our rapidly growing Power district, which includes structural, civil, piping, mechanical, process, process safety, electrical, instrument and control disciplines, is a multi-faceted division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on the EPC delivery model for power facilities. We offer a variety of engineering services, including owner's engineering, project development, detailed engineering and design, construction management and plant services. Our engineering teams bring power projects to life across North America in the following areas:

  • Renewables and new technology
  • Water/wastewater

We are a high performing team of engineers and designers that develop projects through the project life-cycle engaging exciting projects throughout North America. Our staff leads the power markets engineering process and collaborates with Kiewit’s construction teams to approach construction-driven engineering with a focus on safe, cost-effective, and innovative designs that achieve client expectations and further Kiewit’s legacy of excellence.

Location

This position is based in our office in Lenexa Kansas with opportunity for hybrid flexibility. We do offer relocation assistance.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, designers, procurement staff, construction managers, contractors and other project services staff to provide detailed planning and scheduling of projects from conceptual planning through engineering and construction
  • Develop resource loaded schedules, including lists of activities, major milestones, critical approvals, long lead procurement items and other critical project deliverables to be scheduled and tracked for the projects
  • Develop schedule logic and constraints, realistic activity durations and available manpower and resources
  • Assess the impact of design changes and schedule slippages and inform company management and clients of all schedule updates
  • Apply engineering, procurement, and construction terminology and concepts to develop and maintain critic path logic networks; accumulate and access historical data for use in maintaining realistic future planning and forecasting
  • Provide guidance, direction, and specialized assistance for the resolution of difficult project control problems.
  • Ability to analyze, evaluate and forecast current status against an established baseline schedule and train other schedulers on that process.
  • Interface with clients, attend regular meetings and give schedule health reports.
Qualifications
  • BA/BS in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • At least 2 years of scheduling experience preferably in engineering or construction.
