Job summary

Kiewit Power Constructors is seeking a Safety Manager to lead safety planning and execution across power-generation projects. The role requires developing comprehensive safety programs, conducting on-site inspections, and coordinating training for employees and subcontractors.

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field, 3+ years of heavy industrial experience, and strong knowledge of OSHA requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's level degree or higher in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial or related field.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in heavy industrial and/or solar projects.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Proficient use of standard office software and computer skills.
  • Familiarity with Federal and OSHA requirements is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement safety plans and procedures for power generation projects.
  • Ensure safety protocols comply with regulatory requirements and company standards.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify hazards and assess risks.
  • Create and deliver safety training programs for employees and subcontractors.
  • Promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability across the organization.
  • Lead investigations into safety incidents and determine root causes.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory agencies during inspections and audits.
  • Establish KPIs to measure safety performance and report findings to leadership.

Kiewit Power Constructors (KPC) provides direct-hire construction services for Power Generation utilizing a union craft force. Kiewit Power Constructors builds major EPC power projects throughout North America.

Responsibilities
  • Safety Planning and Implementation: Develop and implement comprehensive safety plans and procedures specific to power generation projects
  • Safety Planning and Implementation (continued): Ensure that safety protocols are aligned with regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and Kiewit's safety standards.
  • Safety Planning and Implementation (continued): Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and assess safety risks.
  • Training and Education: Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees and subcontractors. Provide guidance on safety-related certifications and qualifications required for specific job roles.
  • Training and Education (continued): Promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability across all levels of the organization.
  • Incident Management and Investigation: Lead investigations into safety incidents, near misses, and accidents.
  • Incident Management and Investigation (continued): Analyze root causes of incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Ensure timely reporting of all safety incidents in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about changes in safety regulations and standards applicable to power generation projects
  • Regulatory Compliance (continued): Maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory agencies. Coordinate with regulatory authorities during inspections and audits.
  • Safety Performance Monitoring: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure safety performance on projects.
  • Safety Performance Monitoring (continued): Conduct regular assessments and audits to evaluate adherence to safety standards and identify areas for improvement.
  • Safety Performance Monitoring (continued): Provide timely and accurate safety reports to project management and senior leadership.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Occupational Health and Safety or Industrial or equivalent degree/work experience
  • 3+ years of experience in Heavy Industrial and/or Solar projects
  • Strong work ethic; good interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Must be able to act independently with little or no supervision and work collaboratively on a team environment
  • Ability to operate a standard personal computer as well as knowledge of and experience with standard office computer software.
  • Ability to carry out duties in varying work environments including wide ranging weather conditions and terrain.
  • Knowledge of construction safety, current Federal and OSHA requirements is preferred
