Prestige Care Center of Fairfield seeks a compassionate Infection Prevention and Nursing Scheduler to join our nurse management team. Prestige of Fairfield is a 73 bed skilled nursing facility in Fairfield, Iowa.

Working closely with the DON this position will take the lead on overseeing the Infection Prevention Practices and the nursing schedule. We offer a generous retention bonus along with a competitive salary and excellent benefits.

Qualifications

• Nursing degree or graduate of approved LPN/RN program.
• Three years of experience as an LPN/RN.
• Eligible to participate in federally funded health care programs.
• Meet state licensure or certifications and no disciplinary action.
• Education or certification in infection control and prevention.
• Completed specialized training in infection prevention and control.

Responsibilities

• Maintain employee schedules for the facility per guidelines and staffing needs.
• Coordinate, report, and post schedules for hourly staff and manage attendance records.
• Develop and implement an ongoing infection prevention and control program.
• Establish systems for infection prevention and reporting of infections.
• Develop and implement policies for infection prevention and control.
• Oversee the antibiotic stewardship program.
• Oversee resident care activities that increase infection risk.
• Lead the Infection and Prevention Control Committee and QAA Committee.
• Conduct annual infection control risk assessment and facility assessment review.
• Review and revise infection prevention program and procedures as needed.
• Provide education on infection prevention to staff, residents, and families.
• Ensure public health is notified of reportable diseases.
• Collaborate with occupational health and safety; maintain documentation.
• Possess Infection Preventionist Certification or commit to training within 6 months; hold valid RN or LPN license in Iowa.

Working closely with the DON this position will take the lead on overseeing the Infection Prevention Practices and the nursing schedule.

Required Qualifications

• A nursing degree from an accredited college or university or be a graduate of an approved LPN/RN program.
• Three years of experience as an LPN/RN.

Must also meet state requirements for relevant licensures or certifications and have no disciplinary action in effect against professional license.

Education, training, experience, or certification in infection control and prevention.

Completed specialized training in infection prevention and control through accredited continuing education.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for maintaining the employee schedules for the facility in accordance with state, company, and facility guidelines to ensure that patient care and staffing needs are appropriately addressed.

• Coordinates, reports, and posts schedules of hourly staff. Notifies appropriate personnel of call-ins and assists with securing coverage. Maintains accurate attendance records and notifies management of attendance-related issues. Accurately enters and maintains data relative to scheduling using company software programs.

• Develops and implements an ongoing infection prevention and control program to prevent, recognize, and control the onset and spread of infections in order to provide a safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment.

• Establishes facility-wide systems for the prevention, identification, reporting, investigation, and control of infections and communicable diseases of residents, staff, and visitors.

• Develops and implements written policies and procedures in accordance with current standards of practice and recognized guidelines for infection prevention and control.

• Oversees the facility’s antibiotic stewardship program.

• Oversees resident care activities that increase risk of infection (i.e., use and care of urinary catheters, wound care, incontinence care, skin care, point-of-care blood testing, and medication injections).

• Leads the facility’s Infection and Prevention Control Committee. Develops action plans to address opportunities for improvement.

• Participates on the facility’s QAA Committee. Performs duties as assigned.

• Implements an annual infection control risk assessment process and participates in the facility’s annual facility assessment review process.

• Reviews and/or revises the facility’s infection prevention and control program, its standards, policies, and procedures annually and as needed for changes to the facility assessment to ensure they are effective and in accordance with current standards of practice for preventing and controlling infections.

• Provides education related to infection prevention and control principles, policies, and procedures to staff, residents, and families (where appropriate).

• Ensures public health is notified of reportable diseases.

• Collaborates with other departments in fulfilling requirements related to occupational health and safety. (I.e. employee health).

• Maintains documentation of infection prevention and control program activities.

• The qualified candidate will possess Infection Preventalist Certification or be willing to take the training within 6 mos of hire, have a valid RN or LPN in the state of Iowa, be proficient on a computer, and possess an excellent understanding of government regulations impacting admissions and resident stays.
