Job summary

GI Alliance is seeking an experienced Scheduler I to coordinate patient appointments for office visits and procedures. Schedule patient visits in the EMR and manage high call volumes while supporting patient registration and financial transactions.

You will assist in check-in/check-out, help schedule radiology/lab as needed, and ensure accurate charting in EMR. A strong communicator with customer-service focus is essential in a fast-paced medical office.

Qualifications

  • 2-5 years of prior medical scheduling is preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Be able to read and understand medical benefits.
  • Bilingual is a plus.

  • Maintain physicians' schedules for office visits and procedures (may be via phone or in person).
  • Take triage call messages for medical staff and view patient visit notes.
  • Assist in patient registration and financial transactions and may schedule radiology/lab.
  • Assist with check-in and check-out, collect patient and insurance payments, and reconcile charges.
  • File and prepare patient charts in EMR and scan documents into charts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Position purpose

Schedule patients for office visit and procedure appointments.

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks

  • Maintain physicians schedules scheduling office visits and procedures (may be done via phone or face-to-face)
  • Take triage call messages for medical staff
  • View patient visit notes, identifying problems & diagnosis listed and physician orders
  • Assist in patient registration and financial transactions
  • May schedule radiology/lab
  • May include recall scheduling

  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills are required
  • Experience working in a medical office
  • Ability to multi-task and work in fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented
  • Basic understanding of healthcare plans
  • Be able to read and understand medical benefits.
  • Bilingual is a plus.
Education:

High school diploma or equivalent

Experience:

2-5 years of prior medical scheduling is preferred

Requirements For Level I Status
  • Entry level (1-4 years experience) and/or meet the basic requirements of the job with the need for additional supervision.
  • Excess of 4 years experience if meeting only the basic requirements of the job with need for additional supervision.
Performance Requirements
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient technical (computer) skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Self-motivated with initiative.
  • Strong sense of ethics.
