Job summary

Maxco Supply in California is seeking a Scheduler to develop and manage production schedules, ensuring optimal use of resources and timely order completion. This role coordinates with sales, customer service, and production to balance demand with available capacity.

You will allocate equipment and manpower, schedule preventive maintenance, monitor performance metrics, and generate reports to support decisions and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • 3-5 years in production scheduling, planning, or operations management, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Experience with scheduling software and ERP systems desirable.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with scheduling software, ERP systems, and standard office applications.
  • Analytical and cross-departmental collaboration abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

  • Develop production schedules based on customer orders, inventory levels, equipment capacity, and production constraints, balancing demand with available resources.
  • Coordinate with sales, customer service, and production departments to prioritize orders, establish production priorities, and meet customer delivery requirements.
  • Allocate equipment, machinery, and manpower resources to production tasks based on schedule requirements, production capacities, and workforce availability.
  • Optimize resource utilization and minimize downtime by scheduling preventive maintenance, equipment changeovers, and other non-production activities during off-peak periods.
  • Monitor production capacity and identify opportunities to increase efficiency, streamline processes, and improve throughput to meet growing demand or accommodate changes in production requirements.
  • Coordinate with inventory control and materials management teams to ensure availability of raw materials, components, and packaging supplies to support production schedules.
  • Communicate production schedules, priorities, and changes to relevant stakeholders, including production personnel, supervisors, and management team members.
  • Monitor production performance metrics (output, cycle times, downtime, schedule adherence) and analyze data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.

The Scheduler for Maxco Supply is responsible for developing and managing production schedules to ensure optimal utilization of resources and timely completion of orders.This role plays a crucial part in coordinating production activities, allocating equipment and manpower, and maximizing efficiency within the plant's manufacturing operations.

Requirements
Production Scheduling
  • Develop production schedules based on customer orders, inventory levels, equipment capacity, and production constraints, balancing demand with available resources.
  • Coordinate with sales, customer service, and production departments to prioritize orders, establish production priorities, and meet customer delivery requirements.
Resource Allocation
  • Allocate equipment, machinery, and manpower resources to production tasks based on schedule requirements, production capacities, and workforce availability.
  • Optimize resource utilization and minimize downtime by scheduling preventive maintenance, equipment changeovers, and other non-production activities during off-peak periods.
Capacity Planning
  • Monitor production capacity and identify opportunities to increase efficiency, streamline processes, and improve throughput to meet growing demand or accommodate changes in production requirements.
  • Collaborate with production managers and department supervisors to identify bottlenecks, resolve scheduling conflicts, and implement corrective actions as needed.
Inventory Management
  • Coordinate with inventory control and materials management teams to ensure availability of raw materials, components, and packaging supplies to support production schedules.
  • Monitor inventory levels, track material usage, and adjust production schedules as necessary to prevent stockouts, minimize excess inventory, and optimize inventory turnover.
Communication and Coordination
  • Communicate production schedules, priorities, and changes to relevant stakeholders, including production personnel, supervisors, and management team members.
  • Facilitate cross-departmental coordination and collaboration to address scheduling conflicts, resolve production issues, and ensure alignment with overall business objectives.
Performance Monitoring and Reporting
  • Monitor production performance metrics (output, cycle times, downtime, schedule adherence) and analyze data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
  • Generate reports and dashboards to track KPIs, report on schedule adherence, and provide insights for decision-making and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field. Relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of formal education.
  • Experience: 3-5 years in production scheduling, planning, or operations management, preferably in manufacturing. Experience with scheduling software and ERP systems desirable.
  • Computer Skills: Must have strong computer skills, including proficiency with scheduling software, ERP systems, and standard office/productivity applications.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze production data, identify patterns, and make data-driven scheduling decisions.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication for cross-departmental coordination.
  • Organizational Skills: Effective multitasking and prioritization in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy in scheduling to align with customer requirements and resource availability.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adjust to changing production demands and unforeseen disruptions.
