  • Minimize changeovers, waste, and downtime while upholding quality.

Description

Statement of Purpose: The Production Scheduler is responsible for creating and managing daily and weekly production schedules that align with customer demand, inventory levels, and plant capacity. This role ensures the efficient flow of materials, optimal use of labor and equipment, and compliance with food safety and quality standards. The scheduler works closely with operations, procurement, quality assurance, and logistics teams to minimize waste, reduce downtime, and support on-time delivery of safe, high-quality food products.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and maintain daily and weekly production schedules based on customer demand, inventory levels, labor availability, equipment capacity, and raw material supply.
  • Adjust production schedules as needed to accommodate equipment downtime, labor constraints, supply shortages, quality concerns, and changing customer priorities.
  • Monitor production progress and coordinate with plant leadership to ensure schedule attainment and efficient use of resources.
  • Plan raw material requirements and communicate needs to Purchasing and Shipping departments to ensure timely availability of materials.
  • Evaluate customer order changes and production requirements and communicate feasible timelines to internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Analyze production performance, capacity constraints, and line efficiencies to improve scheduling effectiveness.
  • Generate and analyze production, inventory, and scheduling reports to support decision-making.
  • Schedule production to minimize changeovers, waste, and downtime while maintaining quality standards.
  • Support compliance with food safety, quality, HACCP, GMP, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and perform other duties as assigned.
COMPETENCIES AND KNOWLEDGE
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP manufacturing software.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify production constraints and develop practical scheduling solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and changing deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Self-directed with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing production requirements.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Spanish bilingual skills preferred.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:

The Qualified Candidate will have at least a two-year degree in supply chain management, or related field with 1-3 years of experience in manufacturing or production environments preferred. The Candidate will demonstrate a strong ability to follow directions and to grow professionally throughout their employment.

The Candidate must be motivated and be able to follow directions and complete tasks effectively. Thus, they must have initiative, attention to detail, organization and dependability. This person must be able to handle stressful situations in a busy office environment. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 20 pounds and regularly walk and stand and sit at a desk and work on a computer for extended periods of time. This position requires the employee to work closely with managers, supervisors, production staff, and outside organizational contacts, so teamwork and effective communication skills are very important. Must be able to effectively communicate orally, in person and over the telephone, and in writing. The employee must be able to, with or without accommodation, work in all facilities within the requirements of this job description.
