RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a Scheduler to coordinate patient appointments and manage EPIC-based scheduling workflows in the Barnabas Health Medical Group. The role supports the UPA-DCMC Otolaryngology department in Newark, with a day shift and 35 hours per week.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent and 6–12 months of relevant clerical experience; EPIC scheduling experience is preferred, and bilingual abilities are a bonus.

Qualifications

• Experience with EPIC scheduling is preferred; bilingual a plus.

Responsibilities

• Schedule appointments based on physician orders and patient needs.
• Manage scheduling work queues and In Basket messages in EPIC.
• Verify insurance and pre-authorizations have been obtained.
• Communicate appointment details with patients and respond to scheduling inquiries.
• Maintain accurate patient information while delivering excellent service; handle 80–100 calls daily.

As Scheduler, a Typical Day Might Include The Following

• Scheduling appointments based on physician orders and patient needs
• Managing scheduling work queues and In Backet messages within EPIC
• Verifying insurance and pre-authorizations have been obtained
• Communicating appointment details with patients and addressing scheduling inquiries
• Maintaining accurate patient information while delivering exceptional customer service to support a positive patient experience throughout the scheduling process, handling 80-100 calls per day.

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have a High School diploma or equivalent. Six (6) months to one (1) year of relevant experience and/or training required. Preferably, with clerical experience in health care and medical terminology. Knowledgeable with Epic, scheduling and prior authorizations preferred. Bilingual is a plus.
