Job summary

BWXT in Mt. Vernon, Indiana is seeking a Scheduler to develop and maintain daily to long‑range production schedules for multiple programs. You will own schedules using Primavera P6, reflect real shop conditions, and coordinate with operations, planning, and engineering.

The role requires an AS degree or equivalent with 6+ years of scheduling experience, strong Excel skills, and ERP proficiency. This is an on‑site position with competitive pay and benefits, located in Indiana.

Qualifications

  • Minimum A.S. degree in a technical field + 2 years of experience, or minimum 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience operating within a formal planning and scheduling environment using integrated scheduling tools and processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, reporting, and schedule performance tracking.
  • Generate accurate schedule reports and forecasts while ensuring compliance with established scheduling standards.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, analyzing, and managing integrated project schedules, including critical and near‑critical path analysis.
  • Strong understanding of float, schedule drivers, bottlenecks, and variance/performance analysis.
  • Experience coordinating cross‑functionally with operations, planning, engineering, vendors, and program management.
  • Experience utilizing ERP, reporting, and supplemental scheduling tools to support schedule development and performance analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Produce daily, executable shop schedules for assigned program(s) that reflect planned work and current constraints.
  • Create, build, and maintain Primavera P6 schedules with activity logic, calendars, and constraints.
  • Maintain weekly and long‑range production schedules considering material availability, staffing, and plan needs.
  • Update baseline and detailed schedules in response to deviations and scope changes.
  • Communicate schedule changes, risks, and mitigation strategies to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Analyze manufacturing processes to build realistic, executable production schedules.

Position Overview

The Scheduler is responsible for independently developing, maintaining, and executing daily, weekly, and long‑range production schedules for assigned manufacturing components and programs.

The Scheduler utilizes Oracle Primavera P6 to develop resource‑aligned, achievable production schedules that reflect real shop conditions, material availability, and operational constraints. This role strongly prefers experience with Oracle Primavera P6 and requires demonstrated expertise in enterprise‑level scheduling and manufacturing execution, with full ownership of schedule accuracy and realism.

Your Day To Day As a Scheduler

  • Produce daily, executable shop schedules for assigned program(s) that accurately reflect planned work, actual shop execution, and current constraints.
  • Create, build, and maintain Primavera P6 schedules for all assigned components, including development and continuous management of activity logic, relationships, calendars, and constraints.
  • Maintain weekly and long‑range production schedules, incorporating known assumptions, material availability, staffing, equipment constraints, and manufacturing plan need dates.
  • Maintain and update baseline and detailed schedules, adjusting forecasts and logic in response to execution deviations, scope changes, or constraint resolution.
  • Communicate schedule changes, risks, and mitigation strategies clearly to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Analyze manufacturing processes and technical work sequences to build realistic, executable production schedules.

Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with Oracle Primavera P6.
  • Demonstrated success in complex scheduling environments.
  • Ability to rapidly learn and apply Primavera P6.
  • PMI‑SP Certification.
  • Working knowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM) and performance metrics (CPI/SPI).
  • Demonstrated experience with baseline schedule development.
  • Experience using Power BI for data visualization and performance reporting.

Pay

Pay: $64,000.00 - $90,000.00

The base salary range for this position in Indiana (US‑IN) at the start of employment is expected to be between $64,000.00 and $90,000.00 per year. The total compensation package may also include other elements such as an annual cash incentive and other benefits.

All candidates must be U.S. citizens. Selected applicants are required to successfully complete a pre‑employment check and drug screening. The position may require the ability to obtain and maintain applicable federal eligibility requirements for access to classified/sensitive information.
