Scheduler is under the direction of the Central Scheduling Manager, coordinates and facilitates referrals from physician offices. Schedules patients for inpatient and outpatient procedures in Radiology, Interventional Radiology, Cardiology, Imaging Center, Diabetes Education, Sleep Center and Surgery. Maintains communication with physicians and their office staff to promote positive patient outcomes and a successful rapport with those offices. Communicates effectively with the patient, physician offices and various hospital departments to coordinate care and ensure patients are scheduled appropriately and efficiently. Coordinates with financial counselors to ensure all information is acquired to obtain authorizations.
Minimum Qualifications: Communication skills including fluency in oral and written English. Basic computer skills including the ability to send/receive email, navigate information technology associated with the position, and use Electronic Health Record information tools. Ability to remain flexible to quickly adapt to urgent situations. Ability to adapt procedures, processes, tools, equipment, and techniques to accomplish the requirements of the position.
Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. Customer service experience required; Excellent customer service and verbal/listening/written communication skills required. Must be organized and have the ability to multi-task. Proven organization and time management skills are crucial. Previous scheduling experience in a medical office preferred. Previous medical and insurance experience preferred. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, or medical terminology preferred.
Certifications, Licenses, Registrations: For those positions requiring travel, a current valid driver’s license and automobile liability insurance must be maintained.
This position requires respirator and fit testing. Required testing will be performed on all team members at risk for exposure to airborne infectious diseases, droplet producing procedures, or any caustic chemicals.
