Job summary

Ciena Healthcare in Detroit, MI is seeking a Staffing Coordinator to organize and schedule the nursing staff to meet state ratios and quality standards, coordinating RN/LPN/CNA coverage. This role also handles clerical tasks for Nursing Management, maintains rosters, tracks attendance, and supports daily operations.

  • Minimum High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years office administrative experience in a hospital or long-term care facility preferred.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant preferred.
  • Computer skills are required.
  • Meets state and federal background check requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares schedule for the nursing department by scheduling all Licensed Nurses (RN/LPN) and CNAs to ensure state mandated staffing ratios (PPD) are maintained.
  • Monitor overtime and make daily staffing adjustments according to census needs.
  • Maintain daily roster sheets for each shift.
  • Daily review of previous day's time clock punches with schedules.
  • Seek supervisor approvals for exemptions, missing punches, absences, etc.
  • Retrieve, organize and store all staffing related forms (sign-in sheets, assignment sheets, schedules, etc).
  • Complete weekly schedule report and provide to corporate.
  • Completes daily staffing and posts as required.
  • Maintain state mandated ratios pertaining to staffing and ensure adequate RN coverage.

Job description

The overall purpose of the Staffing Coordinator position is to utilize the organizational tools provided to ensure adequate staffing and scheduling of the nursing staff. Staffing personnel in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern long-term care facilities to assure that the highest degree of quality care can be provided to our residents at all times. Also, to perform clerical duties as needed for Nursing Management of the facility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attend and participate in facility meetings, as assigned.
  • Access continuing education opportunities appropriate to responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience:
  • Minimum High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years office administrative experience in a hospital or long-term care facility is preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  • Certified Nursing Assistant preferred.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Computer skills are required
  • Meets state and federal criminal background check requirements.
