Job summary

Ciena Healthcare in Michigan is seeking a Staffing Coordinator to organize nursing staff schedules and ensure staffing ratios are met. This role includes daily roster maintenance, overtime monitoring, and posting of schedules to support quality resident care.

The position requires strong computer and administrative skills, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate with administration, residents and staff. Competitive pay and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

  • Minimum High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years office administrative experience in a hospital or long-term care facility is preferred.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant preferred.
  • Computer skills are required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares nursing schedules by assigning RN/LPN and CNAs to maintain state mandated staffing ratios (PPD).
  • Monitor overtime and adjust staffing daily according to census needs.
  • Maintain daily roster sheets for each shift.
  • Review previous day's time clock punches with schedules.
  • Seek supervisor approvals for exemptions, missing punches, absences, etc.
  • Retrieve, organize and store staffing forms (sign-in sheets, assignment sheets, schedules).
  • Complete weekly schedule report and provide to corporate.
  • Complete daily staffing and posting as required.
  • Maintain staffing ratios and ensure adequate RN coverage.
  • Work beyond normal hours on weekends/holidays when necessary.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills with staff, administration, residents, families, vendors and agencies.
  • Respect residents' rights, dignity and individuality in all interactions.
  • Demonstrate honesty and integrity in care and use of property.
  • Respect coworkers and respond to residents' needs per policies.
  • Prioritize tasks and complete duties within allotted time.
  • Attend and participate in facility meetings as assigned.
  • Access continuing education opportunities relevant to responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

The overall purpose of the Staffing Coordinator position is to utilize the organizational tools provided to ensure adequate staffing and scheduling of the nursing staff. Staffing personnel in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern long-term care facilities to assure that the highest degree of quality care can be provided to our residents at all times. Also, to perform clerical duties as needed for Nursing Management of the facility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Prepares schedule for the nursing department by scheduling all Licensed Nurses (RN/LPN) and C.N.A.'s to ensure state mandated staffing ratios (PPD) are maintained.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience:
  • Minimum High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years office administrative experience in a hospital or long-term care facility is preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
  • Certified Nursing Assistant preferred.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Computer skills are required
  • Meets state and federal criminal background check requirements.
