The Certified Nursing Assistant cares for residents under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse or a licensed practical/vocational nurse. This role assists residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), ensures a safe and comfortable environment, and supports licensed nursing staff in delivering individualized care in accordance with regulatory requirements and facility policies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Provide direct resident care, includingassistancewith bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, incontinent care as applicable, oralhygieneand feeding.
- Measure and record vital signs, weight,percentage of meal consumedintake/output as directed.
- Assistresidents with mobility, transfers, and position using proper body mechanics and lift equipment as applicable.
- Respond promptly to call lights, resident needs, and changes in condition; report observations to licensed nursing staff.
- Support residents’ independence and dignity, while ensuring safety and comfort
- Maintainaccurateandtimelydocumentation andin accordance withfacility procedures
- Follow infection control,safety,and universal precaution guidelinesat all times.

- Makeroutine rounds on each assigned resident every two hours.
- Provides skin care andobservesresidents’skin when giving care and reports changes to licensednurse.
- Modifies own behavior in response to residents’ behaviors.
- Is aware of developmental tasks associated with the agingprocess.
- Contributes to theresidents’assessment (MDS/CAA’s) and the plan of care.
- Provides nursing rehabilitation/restorative nursing services
- Promoteresidents’ability toadaptand adjust to living as independently as possible.
- Assiststhe resident in self-care according to the resident’s abilities.
- Assiststheresidentsin the use of assistive devices for transferring, walking and mobility, dressing and grooming,eatingand swallowing.
- Maintainsrangeofmotion,proper turning and positioning in bed and chair.
- Assistswith bowel and bladder retraining.
- Instructs the resident on the care and use of prosthetic and orthotic devices.
- Incorporates training and skill practice activities, which include repetition, physical or verbalcueing,and task segmentation.
- Cares for residents with Dementia
- Knowshow to respond to residents’ behaviors.
- Allowsresidents to make personal choices.
- Provides and reinforces other behavior consistent with residents’ dignity.
- Usesthe resident’s families as a source of emotional support for theresident.
- Demonstrates a basic understanding of behavior and functional symptoms associated with dementia by providing interventions and treatments to help reduce these symptoms.
- Usesmodification in the presentation of activities of daily living tomaintainand maximize resident functions.
- Useseffective intervention techniques to address behavioral concerns.
- Assistswith transporting residents to activities.Demonstrateseffective communication techniques forresidentswith dementia.
- Provides non-resident care including but not limited to:
- Washwheelchairs.
- Cleaning soiled utility areas.
- Cleaning shower and whirlpool rooms.
- Cleaning kitchen areasonthe nursing unit.
- Performsother duties assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience:
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Must be a Certified Nursing Assistant in good standing with the certification board or is a graduate of a state approved nursing assistant training program and passed a state approved competency examination (written and skills) within120 daysof employment; nameentered intostate nurse aide registry.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Computer skills arerequired.
- Meets all state and federal criminal background check requirements.
