Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a scheduling professional to develop and maintain CPM-based project schedules using Primavera P6. You will interpret contract documents, coordinate with multiple stakeholders, and lead schedule updates to ensure alignment with baselines and milestones.

The role emphasizes strong communication, independent work, and collaboration with project teams on construction-related initiatives. Experience with schedule risk analysis and EVM basics is beneficial.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related quantitative/technical field.
  • 2+ years of scheduling, project controls, or project engineering experience on construction or capital improvement projects.
  • Proficient in Oracle Primavera P6 and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong understanding of CPM logic, quantity-loading, and schedule development fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with project lifecycle phases and construction methodologies.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a larger team effort.
  • Experience with schedule analysis, reporting, and stakeholder collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain CPM logic-based, quantity-loaded project schedules in Primavera P6.
  • Interpret contract documents and apply scheduling obligations to deliverables.
  • Attend and co-lead internal and client project meetings for status updates and coordination.
  • Update project schedules weekly to bi-weekly with accuracy in logic and sequencing.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external organizations for schedule information.
  • Support WBS and activity coding aligned with project standards; track critical path and deviations.
  • Develop schedule status reports, dashboards, and executive summaries for stakeholders.
  • Monitor progress against baselines and milestones; propose revisions as needed.
  • Assist in what-if scenarios and time impact analysis (TIA) for risk evaluation.
  • Analyze float paths and scheduling trends; contribute to process improvements.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain CPM logic based, quantity‑loaded project schedules used to manage workflow across the project life cycle in Primavera P6, using company standard project templates and input from the Project Management Team.
  • Interpret contract documents and apply scheduling obligations and specifications to deliverables.
  • Attend and co‑lead recurring internal and client project meetings to collect project status information, provide schedule updates, and support schedule coordination and planning changes.
  • Update project schedules on a weekly to bi‑weekly basis, ensuring accuracy and integrity in schedule logic, activity sequencing, durations, and constraints.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external organizations to obtain and communicate project schedule information.
  • Support the development and maintenance of work breakdown structures (WBS) and activity coding frameworks aligned with project standards. Identify and track critical path, near‑critical path, and schedule deviations.
  • Develop and maintain schedule status reports, metrics, dashboards, and executive summaries used to evaluate and measure schedule, project and program performance, for both internal and client audiences.
  • Monitor progress against approved baselines and key project milestones to identify variances and support schedule revisions as needed.
  • Assist in conducting what‑if scenarios and time impact analysis (TIA) to support schedule risk evaluation and decision‑making.
  • Analyze float paths, observe scheduling trends, and identify potential impacts to project delivery. Participate in process improvement initiatives and contribute to the development and maintenance of detailed scheduling and project controls process guides.
  • Apply feedback from senior schedulers to improve schedule logic, modeling accuracy, and reporting clarity.
  • Learn and apply earned value management (EVM) principles in schedule assessments.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related quantitative or technical field required.
  • 2+ years of scheduling, project controls, or project engineering experience supporting project management functions on construction or capital improvement projects required.
  • Proficient in Oracle Primavera P6 and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong understanding of CPM logic theory, quantity‑loading, and schedule project development fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with project lifecycle phases and construction methodologies.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
