Inova Health System is seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Technician for Inova Schar Infusion in Virginia. This full-time role operates on a Monday–Friday rotating shift with occasional weekends, and offers opportunities for remote or hybrid work where available.

Minimum two years hospital pharmacy experience, VA Tech registration or intern license, and BLS within 3 months are required. The position emphasizes chemo handling, IV admixture, and strict safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years of hospital experience working as a Pharmacy Technician.
• Registered Pharmacy Technician in Virginia or Pharmacy intern license.
• BLS within 3 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Handles chemotherapy without spills or exposure to self, others, or environment.
• Calculates patient-specific doses based on mg/m2 or mg/kg dosing accurately.
• Assesses and reorders IV admixture/chemotherapy supplies to avoid stockouts.
• Initiates safe disposal of hazardous materials and sharps.
• Follows IV Admixture procedures with aseptic technique and proper documentation.
• Prepares IV Admixture and sterile compounding with minimal contamination.

ob Responsibilities:

• Handles chemotherapy without causing chemotherapy spills, aerosolization of drug or other self, others, or environmental exposures.
• Calculates patient specific doses from scratch based on mg/m2 or mg/kg dosing accurately and consistently with 0 to minimal chemotherapy exposures of self, others, environment.
• Assesses and reorders IV admixture/chemotherapy preparation supplies as appropriate avoiding stockouts and excess inventory.
• Initiates, without prompting, actions necessary to assure safe disposal of all hazardous materials, sharps, and general trash.
• Follows IV Admixture procedures including using aseptic technique in preparation of medication, calculations, maintenance of clean area, and complete documentation.
• Prepares IV Admixture and sterile compounding as evidenced by the lack of contamination in test solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: High School or GED.
• Experience: Two (2) years of hospital experience working as a Pharmacy Technician.
• Certification: Registered Pharmacy Technician in the state of Virginia or a Pharmacy intern license. Basic Life Support (BLS) within 3 months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience: IV or Infusion experience.
