Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of hospital experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician in Virginia or Pharmacy intern license.

Job description

Inova Schar Infusion is seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Technician to join the team. This role will be a PRN position with rotating shifts on weekdays and weekends.

Pharmacy Technician Responsibilities:


  • Handle chemotherapy safely, avoiding spills, aerosolization, or exposure to self, others, or the environment.
  • Calculate patient-specific doses accurately based on mg/m2 or mg/kg, minimizing exposures.
  • Assess and reorder IV admixture/chemotherapy supplies to prevent stockouts and excess inventory.
  • Initiate actions for the safe disposal of hazardous materials, sharps, and trash.
  • Follow IV Admixture procedures, including aseptic technique, calculations, maintaining a clean area, and documentation.
  • Prepare IV Admixture and sterile compounds with contamination-free results.

Additional Requirements:


  • Work schedule: PRN, with preferred rotating shifts on weekdays and weekends; open to weekend-only shifts. Hours: Monday - Friday, 6:30 am - 6:30 pm; Saturday, 6:30 am - 3 pm.
  • Education: High School diploma or GED.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of hospital experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Certification: Registered Pharmacy Technician in Virginia or a Pharmacy intern license. BLS certification within 3 months of hire.
