Job summary

The Jeanine Larson Dobbins Conservatory of Theatre and Dance at Southeast Missouri State University seeks a Scene Shop Supervisor to manage daily scene shop operations and coordinate construction, rigging, sound, electrics, and painting for main stage productions.

This is a full-time, 10-month renewable professional staff position; duties include safety, inventory control, project planning, and assisting with installations and strikes while training students and collaborating with faculty.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to supervise shop operations and coordinate production workflows.
• Ability to read construction drawings and interpret scene designers’ works.
• Proven rigging, electrical, and sound skills for theatre productions.
• Experience with properties, scene painting techniques, and welding willingness.
• Commitment to safety standards and training of students and staff.

Responsibilities

• Manage the daily operations of the scene shop.
• Oversee construction of scenery, stage rigging, sound, electrics, painting, and welding.
• Coordinate properties for all main stage productions.
• Assist in planning and organizing theatre projects.
• Maintain shop machinery, inventory management, and general maintenance.
• Assist with scenery installations and strikes of conservatory productions.
