ITC Federal is seeking a SCANTS Vessel Simulation Administrator to operate and maintain the Shipboard Control and Navigation Training System at USCGA in New London, CT. The role supports cadets with high-fidelity shipboard simulation, running training scenarios and coordinating maintenance.

Qualified candidates will hold an active Public Trust clearance or ability to obtain, plus knowledge of maritime rules, ECDIS and radar displays.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain Shipboard Control and Navigation Training System for bridge simulation training.
  • Load and configure training scenarios for evolutions and feedback sessions.
  • Simulate target vessel activity via radio calls and proper radiotelephone procedures.
  • Execute role-based exercises (lookout, CO, traffic vessels) as required by scenarios.
  • Coordinate maintenance with third-party support to keep simulators mission-ready.

ITC Federal is seeking a motivated, mission-focused SCANTS Vessel Simulation Administrator to join our team in New London, CT. This is an onsite position supporting the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA). This role offers the opportunity to apply direct maritime and bridge-operations experience to support cadet and student training on a high-fidelity shipboard simulation platform.


The SCANTS Vessel Simulation Administrator operates and maintains the Shipboard Control and Navigation Training System used to deliver bridge simulation training in support of USCGA instruction. This role runs training scenarios, plays supporting roles during exercises (such as traffic vessels, lookout, or commanding officer), and coordinates system maintenance to keep the simulator platform mission-ready.

Responsibilities


  • Perform system operation and student training in accordance with user manuals and lesson plans.

  • Load and configure training scenarios in preparation for training evolutions and student feedback sessions.

  • Simulate target vessel activity by responding to radio calls from traffic vessels, using proper radiotelephone communications procedures in accordance with CGTTP 6-1.1 (series).

  • Perform role-based exercises - including lookout, commanding officer, and traffic vessels - simulating internal and external communications as required by the training scenario.

  • Operate and maintain shipboard simulation systems, coordinating maintenance and repair activities with third-party maintenance support as necessary.



Qualifications

REQUIRED:



  • Active Public Trust clearance or ability to obtain.

  • Working knowledge of maritime rules of the road, including both U.S. Inland and International Rules.

  • Knowledge of and operational experience with maritime bridge console components, including Electronic Chart Display and Information System (ECDIS) and radar displays.

  • Direct operational experience developing and conducting training scenarios within a higher-education or service academy institution.

  • Maritime afloat experience with operational bridge leadership.

  • USCG afloat expertise contributing to required training factors supporting merchant mariner credentialing.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:



  • Familiarity with Wartsila simulation and training solutions.


WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:



  • Candidate must be able to function in a bridge-simulator training lab and general office environment on the USCGA campus.

  • The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position at a simulator console for extended periods during training evolutions.

  • The person in this position must be able to move around the simulator facility and campus as needed to support training setup, exercises, and coordination with instructional staff.
