Job summary

MacDermid Alpha Electronics Solutions, a segment of Element Solutions Inc., seeks a scale-up lab technician/engineer to drive production of lab batches and ensure traceability of materials. Responsibilities include preparing samples, labeling containers, and shipping documents while maintaining accurate records.

The role emphasizes documentation, communication, and collaboration with the Scale up team to optimize processes and maintain safety standards in a fast-paced lab environment.

Qualifications

  • BS in Chemical Engineering/Chemistry with 3+ years of relevant experience or MS Entry Level.
  • Experience in continuous improvement methods (Six Sigma Green Belt-like training).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; lab documentation proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Produce batches to scale up new products and document results.
  • Prepare samples, labels, and shipping documents for customer samples.
  • Maintain inventory records and ensure traceability of materials used.
  • Schedule aging studies and report data generated.
  • Support continuous improvement projects and troubleshoot with the Scale up team.
  • Maintain safety, housekeeping and proper storage of materials.

Who are we looking for?

The strategic focus of this position is to work on the Scale up activities involved to promote quick scale-ups and continuous improvement, from raw material control to shipping samples if required, going through batch making, observation reports, and improvements implementation. The primary purpose of this position is to execute the production of scale up lab batches. In addition, this position will be responsible for preparing samples, shipment, keeping inventory stocks and records to have traceability of all the materials used and shipped.

What will you be doing?
  • Produce batches to scale-up new products
  • Fills and labels containers for customer samples
  • Responsible for communicating process results – verbally and in writing
  • Prepare samples and documents required for shipping
  • Responsible for documenting details related to the product and manufacturing process
  • Responsible for keeping inventory stocks and records
  • Responsible for keeping and organizing documents such as CofAs and SDS to the products in hand
  • Perform testing for the batches that allow to understand characteristics and cause-effects of the product and process.
  • Schedule aging studies and report the data generated
  • Assist with and oversee the storing and disposing of raw materials, paste flux, solder paste samples, according to internal procedures
  • Work on continuous improvement projects
  • Work closely with the Scale up team to work on troubleshooting as required
  • Maintain good housekeeping and safety practices.
  • Other duties as assigned
Who are You?
  • BS in Chemical Engineering/Chemistry & >3 years of relevant experience or MS Entry Level
  • Effective level of exposure and training in Continuous Improvement Methodology, similar to the Green Belt as provided in Six Sigma
What competencies will you need?
  • To successfully accomplish the essential duties of this job the incumbent must possess a minimum of two years experience in similar position, and an understanding of working with chemicals
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and computer literacy
  • Requires practical understanding and a working knowledge of a laboratory environment
  • Requires the ability to record and maintain data in computerized and non-computerized formats
  • Possesses well-developed communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws
  • Ability to work in a high-paced and multi-task environment
  • High ethical standards and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to read, write and follow written or verbal instructions.
  • Ability to speak read and write English
  • Well-organized and detail oriented
