Job summary

People Architects in Cleveland, OH is recruiting a Chemical Engineer for a client in the specialty materials sector. The role focuses on scaling chemical and materials processes from lab and pilot to full-scale manufacturing.

You will collaborate with operations, R&D, EHS, and maintenance to improve product quality, throughput, and safety, while supporting process design and optimization at the Cleveland facility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or related discipline; advanced degree is a plus.
• 0–3 years of experience in chemical engineering or related process manufacturing.
• Solid understanding of core chemical engineering principles: reaction engineering, thermodynamics, mass and heat transfer.

Responsibilities

• Lead the scale-up of new products from laboratory and pilot stages to full-scale manufacturing.
• Lead process engineering support for assigned production areas, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and daily guidance.
• Develop, optimize, and document batch and continuous processes for rare earth and specialty material production.
• Analyze process data to identify trends, improve yields, reduce variability, and drive efficiency.
• Author and maintain PFDs, P&IDs, operating procedures, standard work, and control plans.
• Support capital projects by defining process requirements, material and energy balances, equipment selection, and startup.
• Partner with EHS to ensure compliance with process safety, environmental, and occupational health standards.
• Provide training and technical coaching to operators and technicians on new processes and equipment.
