Job summary

North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) is seeking a Scale Operator to accurately weigh trucks, manage transactions, and enforce landfill policies while delivering strong customer service. The role supports regulatory compliance and requires attention to detail and reliability.

Qualifications

• Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
• Basic math skills to calculate weights and fees.
• Ability to operate computer systems and process transactions.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Weigh incoming and outgoing trucks to determine the tonnage of solid waste.
• Observe incoming trucks to ensure that solid waste is properly covered and acceptable for receipt at the landfill or transfer station.
• Verify residency or authorization of customers prior to disposal.
• Maintain accurate records, including vehicle identification and transaction information.
• Process customer payments, including credit card transactions, accurately and efficiently.
• Answer telephone inquiries and respond to questions from customers and Member City residents.
• Follow and promote safe work practices at all times.
• Perform general site cleanup and maintenance as directed.
• Ensure delivered waste complies with applicable rules, regulations, and landfill policies.
• Assist with other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
