The Scale Operator will collaborate with the other members of the team to work toward operational goals while maintaining quality and efficiencies.Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesOperating the scale, which includes weighing and grading inbound and outbound grain to issue scale tickets.Ability to run daily reports, administer cross-checks of scale equipment, and maintain customer relationshipsGeneral housekeeping and upkeep of the working areas, including sweeping, vacuuming, and sanitation.Must have open availability to work a flexible schedule when production requires, including the ability to work entire shift, extended shift hours, weekends, and holidays.Ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed.Other duties assigned.Skills, Knowledge, Education, and ExperienceMust be at least 18 years old.Communication over Z way radioPrevious experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment is preferred, but not required.An agricultural background is a plusAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.Good organizational skillsAbility to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.Basic knowledge of working with a computer and the ability to understand the grain and ticket systemGood work ethic (team environment, both safe and of high quality), efficient, and willingness to perform all required work with good attendance.Physical Requirements necessary to perform this jobMust be able to move freely throughout the scale room, including walking, standing, and sittingAbility to regularly lift and move up to 25 lbsOccasionally required to off-grade grainRequired to wear protective equipment, including a hard hat, safety glasses, protective footwear, gloves, coveralls, and other PPE when outsideBenefits OfferedComprehensive health, dental, and RX benefitsCompany paid life insurance and disabilityFlexible spending plansEmployee assistance program401K retirement savings planPaid holidays, vacation, and sick leaveSuccessful completion of initial and ongoing employment screens, including but not limited to criminal background and vehicle record as required.Columbia Grain is an Equal Opportunity Employer
