Job Responsibilities
- Ensure corporate compliance with state and federal Weights and Measure regulations.
- Manage the Scale Maintenance Program, including the capital budget process.
- Collaborate with Regional Operations management and other resources to evaluate, develop strategies, programs, and services to improve scale maintenance and align with grain divisional strategies.
- Liaise with governing and regulatory bodies at local, state, and federal levels to ensure compliance.
- Participate in planning, development, and management of capital projects with regional management.
- Support health, safety, environmental, and security programs under the guidance of the Environment, Health & Safety Department.
- Manage quality assurance programs to ensure compliance with regulations, standards, and customer requirements.
- Share best practices and operational insights within regions and divisions.
- Guide Supply Chain Services in negotiations and evaluate contracted scale maintenance resources.
- Prepare reports on achievements, challenges, and opportunities in line with administrative procedures.
- Participate in working groups for maintenance and development of Viterra’s assets and industry exchanges.
- Provide insights into future facility development concerning equipment and standards.
- Coordinate with Regional Operations on facility condition and weigh system maintenance, providing credible operational data.
- Assess and recommend critical inventory based on equipment needs.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Other Job Functions
- Experience in reading building plans and managing contracts with external providers.
- Willingness to travel approximately 6–10 nights per month, including remote locations.
- Proficiency in spreadsheet, database, and word processing software.
Qualifications / Education / Experience / Skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience in elevator and/or terminal operations preferred.
- Farming background is a plus.
- 5 to 8 years of progressively responsible experience in scale maintenance or construction, including bulk material handling systems.
- Degree or diploma in Agriculture, Business Administration, or Commerce is an asset; equivalent education and experience will be considered.
Special Demands
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.
- Frequent standing, walking, manual handling, kneeling, and bending.
- Exposure to moderate to loud noise and grain dust.
- Ability to move safely over uneven terrain or confined spaces.
- Proper use of personal protective equipment, including respirators and fall protection.
- Climbing stairs and ladders; working at heights up to approximately 200 ft.
- Work responsibilities may extend up to 8 hours daily, including special demands.
